Home Remedies For Allergies

Question:
Home remedies for allergies?

My allergies are ridiculous! I am on zyrtec, patanol for my eyes, and flonase for my nose and still my allergies are killing me. Mostly my eyes and the eye drops arent helping. I have Visine-A and thats not working either. Im trying to avoidscratching them. Any home remedies out there I can try?

Answer: There are a few things that I do, and have, thathelps with allergies. An air cleaner is one ofthem...it has a hepa filter inside and it cleansthe air as the air goes through. You canget vacuum cleaners that have this filter also. Try to keep your house closed up so the pollen and other things don't come through the windows. Keep flowers and plants outside. It has been proven that plant soil contains molds that could cause an allergic reaction. Washyour hands frequently ,as they pick up germsand others things very easy that you maytouch your face with. Get a spray bottle andfill with fresh water. Go through your homeand squirt it up toward the ceiling, stayingaway from your furniture. This will helpclean the air. Stay away from perfume spraysas the perfume could cause an allergyreaction. There are detergents for yourclothes that have little or no scent to them. Some people have an allergy to productsthey use, so switching them sometimesrelieves it. (some people are allergic tonail polish and removers)Carpeting is the worst thing to have in the home of someone who is allergic...it holds many things including mites.Walk your animals if you have them and inthis way they won't bring in something thathas things that brush against their bodies...alot better than letting them run loose anddrag in things on their fur. When you dothings outside in the garden, wear a maskthat you can get at any department store toprotect from smelling freshly mowed grassand breathing in alot of pollen. When yougo to other places where you think there maybe something you are allergic to, when youcome home change clothes and throw themin the washer and take a sponge bath right away.

Your eyes seem to be very tired and sorefrom all this. When taking a bath, run awash cloth under very warm (not hot)water andthen lie back and place this over your closed eyes, and repeat warming it as needed. Thiswill relax the muscles in your eyes and thesteam from it may make your eyes a littleblurry when you first take it off, but yourvision will return to normal shortly. I thinkI would talk to the doctor about your eyesbeing sore as too much of this medicationsmay be drying your eyes out...in that case, you would need something to make them moist again. They have ointments that can beused at night to help replace the moisture andrelieve pain.
