What is holistic science?

Answer: This is the study of entire, integrated systems rather than isolated parts. For instance, instead of looking at a single cell in the brain, the holistic scientist may study the entire neural system and how it works compared to that of another of the same species (ie between two humans, or two chimpanzees).

Another example is by taking an entire ecology of something (like an ant colony) and studying it as a whole instead of studying just a single entity (like the lone ant).

Some also attribute those of the "New Age" to be holistic as they classify the entire planet as a single entity (Gaea) and work together in order to restore it and help it recover from the various pollution spills and other man-made disasters.
