It outrages me that most healthplans cover M.D. visits and medications, but not holistic psychotherapy(beyond a paltry few sessions, and even that usually *after* a co-pay, andwith humiliating screening procedures by an intermediary company likeGreenspring here in New England). No wonder everyone is taking psych.pills prescribed by their family doctors; no one can afford to try a truecourse of therapy any more (except Woody Allen, who is to analysis whatMia Farrow is to adopting kids).

Answer: look at how many visits they cover or the caps-it is absurd-who dictates thatyou can be cured in 10 visits-that is ten hours of time-less time then onespends in the bathroom per week-it is ridiculouslook at the cut backs in social services or how much the lowly social workerearns per year-look at the income level of the honest shrink -it really isn'tanywhere near what you would think once you amortize malpractice insurancestaff and answering services and rent. The guys making the big money are onpark ave or have that 15 minute mill session going on to dispenesemedications-they are medicare docs who rip the system off-the poor shmuck whogives a crap and doesn't shill his time spends it with the client and work hisass of gets shafted since no patient unless well off can pay for long termtreatment and that is what is required. If someone had to go get dialysis oncea week would they cap it? Mental illness is so sorely misunderstood and sodiscriminated against by even doctors it is pathetic and disheartening
